It is said that Helen of Troy had "the face that launched a thousand ships". Our reunion committee can claim to have mailed the "postcard that launched a hundred diets". Mine isn't working out so well, but I'll be there anyway and looking forward to a rare return to OKC. I'm hoping that my old Monroe Redbirds team mates will be there to pose for a 50th--yes 50th--anniversary photo!
I was really hoping to attend this year, but it just wasn't meant to be. Hopefully I'll see you all at the 45th or 50th! I'd like to drop in on a monthly gathering if I'm in OKC at the right time. For those of you attending: Have a wonderful and special time! (oh yeah, and Redbirds Rule! hahahaha - looking forward to that team photo, Bob).
Hello everyone!I made plans to come to the reunion, but it just didn't work out. I'm sure it will be great! I have been married for 39 years to Bob Pruitt ('66 NWC grad) and have 6 children, ages ranging from 15 to 35 and 3 precious grandchildren. For the past 29 years we have lived in Chattanooga, TN.Bob and I are humbled and very grateful to know and have a personal relationship with our Creator God...Jesus Christ, Maker of heaven and earth. His presence has transformed us and He has made all the difference in our lives. Hopefully, I will make the next reunion. A big thanks to all who made this happen. Keep me posted!Sonja (VandenNieuwenhof) Pruitt
YES, we really are this old! I can't wait to see everyone. Haven't attended the last couple of reunions, so it will really be fun for me to get together with everyone. Plans are really shaping up. Should be fun!!!Be there, everyone!
Who can forget the Charcoal Oven after school or Coit's Root Beers? How about cruising up and down the NW Expressway after a football game? Lots of great memories!!!
Our high school graduation doesn't seem so long ago. My youngest just graduated high school. (One out of college and back home and one on his way to University of Nevada, Las Vegas.) I can't be 58 can I? Since many of you have grandchildren, I'll need some counseling about becoming an "empty nester". The 35th reunion was fun an am looking forward to this one!P.S. I resent that stupid "dancing balloon" commercial! Class of '60 maybe but not us!
That card got me thinkin' of those silken days of yoreWhen gas was 30 cents and Big Macs not much more.Draggin' Quicks, The Oven, Delta and Rancher's Daughter,Back row at Cinema 70 not doin' what we oughtaHangin' with Gilbert, Geo Lemmon and Charlie Smith,Dating that John Marshall girl, the one I'm still with.Hang a fat forty on me, I'm still the same, folks:Less hair here, more hair there, same "pun"ishing jokes.Son Daniel is in law school with his fortune to seek,And daughter Laura's no slouch--graduated Harvard last week. Can't make this reunion but enjoy it, you Knights!Keep making those memories and reaching new heights.
It breaks my heart to know that I will be unable to attend this year's reunion because of health problems. All of you mean so much to me and I am so proud of our class. I'll keep in touch on this web site that has been set up and I believe that Cindy and Arlene are going to read a short note for me. I would love to hear from you either by e-mail or you can call me at home (330-8378). I believe Arlene, Cindy and some of the girls might come by sometime during this weekendto see me. If anyone is interested, please check with Arlene or CindyI am on permanent disability now (certainly not by choice) and it gets pretty lonely without any interaction with others. However, I do want to thank so many of you for the sweet and caring e-mails, cards and calls. Have and wild and crazy time and drink one (or two or three) for me. As Jimmy Buffett says, "oh, the stories we could tell" (OR NOT!!)JoanneP.S. - Thanks so very much to everyone who worked on the reunion. You've done an awesome job!
Can't wait to see everyone!~ We decided to drive to OKC from Reno this time and are just coming into Amarillo as we speak! Thanks to "The Committee" for making all of this possible. Love reading the messages. Can't wait!
Hard to believe it's been 40 years & I haven't really kept in contact with anyone. I am on the missing classmate list but am still kicking and live here in the city. I was married for 36 yrs but am now a widow. I have 2 beautiful daughters & a grandson who is the love of my life! Sorry that I will not be attending the reunion but I hope you all have fun! Linda
Hi everyone. I\'m sorry Dixie and I were not able to attend the "60th Birthday Party" for our class due to an unforseen conflict on that day. I have been looking at the party pics on line. It appears to have been a great party. I hope we can make it to the next reunion event. Dixie and I have been married for 33 years. I was an OSU Accounting graduate, and we met when she was in grad school at OU Health Sciences Center (Speech Pathology). I retired from Devon Energy in February 2010. We have two sons, Ted (28) and Grant (25). Ted and his wife Anne live in Ann Arbor Michigan, where he works as Assistant Director of Development for University of Michigan Athletics. Grant and his wife Lindee live in OKC. Grant is in his first year as a business teacher and Head Baseball Coach at Northwest Classen. Best Wishes to all the Brave and Bold Knights of \'68.
Never have made a reunion. (I was lost but now am found.)Looks like so much fun! Hated to work instead of partay . . . hope to make it the next time. Enjoyed seeing all the great pics, at least!
Just made an entry & didn\'t put my maiden name!
Greetings to all! I have been gone a long time, and only occasionally visiting Oklahoma - learned a lot in Cajun land about food and music; now we are up in South Dakota (my husband does oil & gas work); just a few miles northwest of our Homeplace in Pierre "Dances With Wolves" was filmed; so it is very scenic. Will probably not make the reunion, but we'll see; both of our sons will be on the East Coast playing football this fall. Blessings to all! Mary
I loved high school so much that I can't seem to get away from it. I am currently an administrator at Mustang High School, in August I will be starting my 30th year!!! The pride and loyalty of students who attended NWC will never be duplicated. I thought I was holding on to an image of NWC that only existed in my mind until I talked to a Mustang teacher who attended Midwest City (1968 grad also) and he confirmed that many others in the metro area were envious!! I am still proud to be a Knight. See you at the reunion!!
I WAS WONDERING IF WE WERE GOING TO HAVE A GET TOGETHER FOR THE BIG 40. THANKS TO SHERRY LANG MEEK FOR FINDING ME AND GETTING ME HOOKED UP. I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE 1ST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH MEETING. I'LL HAVE TO TRY THAT OUT !
I wanted to come, but, alas, I couldn't, this time. Much thanks to Doug Amick for calling to remind me. The picture of all of you looks great. Congratulations Jim on National Coach Award. My wife, Joanna, son, Yale (15), and I live in the Dallas area where I work as a project engineer for US Customs. Yale is a junior at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, OH and is on the swim team. Joanna and I met in Architecture at OU and also a math tutor. Enjoyed reading everyone's comments and look forward to the 45th!
Hey Susan and Danny..Can't wait to see you guys. I've seen Susan several times since 68, but Danny, I havn't seen you since Highschool..wow..what a Kick. Where's Allen Sykes, Mike Way, Jennifer Sucky (spelling)? Kay Hinkel..anyway, hope all is well with you guys...see you soon...
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. Tommy and I have been married for over 40 years. We have two wonderful children a son and daughter and five grandchildren, We have lived on our farm North of Prague, Oklahoma for 33 years. Tommy has retired now, and I am an Independent Oil and Gas Producer. Hope to see everyone there.
Really looking forward to this reunion. I hope to see lots of people I see every five years and some who may not have ever been to a reunion. It's a great time.
Thanks to the organizers of the 60th Birthday Party for providing another great event. If you are not already on facebook, I encourage you to join as there are many Birthday Party photos posted and we can quickly connect you with many other facebook friends from our class. Great way to stay connected leading up to the 45th.
Greetings from Sydney! I can't make this year, so please allow me to reminisce instead. We all shared so much - winning State in Basketball for one. But, who among the lucky few remembers Charlie Hale's Auto Mechanics classes, or Janie Creekmore's Latin classes (the best teacher ever?), or how about this obscure event? Some of us attended a meeting after school with a couple of 'recruiters' from the John Birch Society. I don't recall the invitation naming the host, but it didn't last long. After their opening rant, one of the few teachers there asked them to define Communism, to which they had no answer. Can anyone confirm this for me?
I'm really looking forward to this reunion -- I've never had friends this old before. And I'd like to know where Spaulding is, too! And Rocket. And a bunch more.
45 years....Wow !
Been a very long time. Brings back alot of memories. I remember many of you. Look forward to seeing everyone this June, 2013.
Anyone heard from Phil Spaulding? Any info would be appreciated. The last email address I have has resulted in no replies. Thanks.
Hello everyone! Ya know ... we should never underestimate the value of the personal connections and friendships that go back to our youthful roots. Like the others before it, this upcoming class reunion is a great opportunity for us all to shelve our daily concerns and relax ... spending some time chuckling about things we almost forgot about ... and remembering other things we've been wanting to share with friends from a special time who would appreciate it the most."First Thursday", that legendary Class of 1968 never-ending monthly planning meeting for the 20th reunion, has created and reinforced the kinds of friendships that seldom happen elsewhere. Come to the 40th reunion and experience it yourself!
It's that time again, this should be a good one. I hope we can get the word out to as many people as we can so all 1968 grads can attend.
I'm planning to attend the cookout at the Humphrey's on Saturday afternoon. That may be the only event I'll make - have 2 other commitments that weekend and leaving on vacation the next. Life is rather tame the other 51 weeks of the year - what's up with THAT weekend?! Hoping to see a lot of old? (never) classmates at the Humphrey's!
Facebook anyone? We've got a few dozen or so identified NWC Class of 1968 classmates with facebook accounts now (and I'm sure there are more out there). It's another fun way to connect and communicate. There is a Northwest Classen facebook group that includes all years. I think we should encourage others to sign up for facebook (it's free) and then set up our own NWC 1968 group. Give it a try!
I know that it has been 40 years and I am looking forward to seeing everyone again. I recently have started going to the 1st Thursday night and it is great. Wish everyone would come.
40 years, my how time flies! Pat and I have been married now for 38 years. We have 2 kids, and 7 grandkids. Grandkids are the greatest! Looking forward to seeing everyone in July. Take care and see you all soon!Pat and Libby Determan
